<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Growing Conditions</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pothos can tolerate a wide range of light levels, but they prefer 3-6 hours of bright, indirect light. Keep them away from more than 2-3 hours of direct sunlight, which can scorch their leaves. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water your pothos thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Be careful not to overwater, as pothos are prone to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. They can also be grown in water, if you&#8217;re growing your pothos in water, make sure to keep water clean and fresh by changing it every week.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pothos can grow in a variety of soils, but they prefer a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>well-draining, nutrient-rich potting mix</strong></span></a>. Avoid using heavy soils that can retain too much water.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pothos prefers temperatures between 16-29°C. They are sensitive to cold drafts, so keep them away from areas where AC could be blowing on them directly.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img decoding="async" width="640" height="828" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/pothos-1.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3268" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/pothos-1.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/pothos-1-480x621.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upkeep</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Feed your pothos with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced fertilizer</strong></span></a> once every couple of months. Regular pruning will help keep your pothos looking full and bushy. Trim off any yellow or brown leaves, and pinch back the tips of the vines to encourage new growth.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pothos are easy to propagate. Simply cut a vine just below a node (where the leaves are attached), and place it in a jar of water or in moist soil. Roots will begin to form within a few weeks.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Overall, pothos is a versatile and attractive <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/shop-plants/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>indoor plant</strong></span></a> that can thrive in a variety of conditions. With the right care, it can add beauty and health benefits to any space.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Overview</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/bird-of-paradise/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>Bird of paradise</strong></span></a> plants (Strelitzia reginae) are a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product-category/bestselling-plants/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>popular tropical houseplant</strong></span></a> native to South Africa. These plants are highly prized for their stunning and colorful flowers that resemble a bird, which explains their name.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">When grown indoors, bird of paradise plants can reach heights of up to 5-6 feet and require up to 6 hours of bright indirect sunlight, well-draining potting soil, and regular watering. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Overall, bird of paradise plants are a popular choice for indoor houseplant and can add a touch of tropical beauty to any indoor space with their unique foliage and stunning flowers.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="480" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bop-2.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3250" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bop-2.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/bop-2-480x360.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Bird of paradise is a popular houseplant that requires proper care to thrive indoors. Here are some tips on how to care for a bird of paradise indoor:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light and Water</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Bird of paradise requires up to 6 hours of bright indirect sunlight to grow. Place the plant near a south-facing window or a bright spot in the house. If the plant is not getting enough light, the leaves will turn yellow and drop.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water the plant thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Do not overwater the plant, as it can lead to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out completely between watering while keeping the soil moist but never soggy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Bird of paradise plants thrive best in warm temperatures, between 15-29°C. They prefer a consistent temperature range and can be sensitive to temperature fluctuations.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">It&#8217;s important to note that while bird of paradise plants can tolerate high temperatures, they still require adequate moisture and humidity levels to prevent the leaves from becoming dry and brittle. Therefore, it&#8217;s recommended to keep the plant in a well-ventilated area with moderate humidity levels and to mist the leaves regularly to maintain proper moisture levels.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Additionally, avoid placing the plant near cold drafts, such as an open window or an air conditioning unit.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Bird-of-Paradise.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1028" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Bird-of-Paradise.png 800w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Bird-of-Paradise-480x480.png 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 800px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upkeep</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Use a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>well-draining potting mix</strong></span></a> to ensure proper drainage. Avoid using heavy soils that retain water for too long. Fertilize the plant once every a couple of months with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced fertilizer</strong></span></a>; apply 2 tablespoons on topsoil for 10-15&#8243; grow pot.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Trim any yellow or brown leaves and dead stems regularly. Also, remove any dead flowers to encourage new growth. Repot the plant every two years or when the pot becomes too small. Use a pot that is one size or 2-4&#8243; larger than the current one and fill it with <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/basic-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>fresh potting soil</strong></span></a>.</p>

Here are some tips for caring for potted lucky bamboo:</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lucky-bamboo-closeup.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2664" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lucky-bamboo-closeup.jpg 800w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lucky-bamboo-closeup-480x480.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 800px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light and Water</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Light: Lucky bamboo prefers 3-6 hours of bright, indirect sunlight. If your plant is in direct sunlight, move it to a spot that receives filtered light. If your plant is not getting enough light, it may become yellow or pale in color.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water: If your lucky bamboo is growing in soil, water it when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid overwatering, as this can cause root rot. Always water deeply and let soil drain out completely. If your lucky bamboo is growing in water, make sure the roots are always covered with fresh water. Change the water every two weeks to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/lucky-bamboo-1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2667" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/lucky-bamboo-1.jpg 800w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/lucky-bamboo-1-480x480.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 800px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Lucky bamboo prefers warm temperatures between 18-32°C and moderate to high humidity. Keep your plant away from drafts and air conditioning vents, which can cause the leaves to dry out. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="960" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-luck-bamboo-1.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3246" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-luck-bamboo-1.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-luck-bamboo-1-480x720.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upkeep</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fertilizing: Lucky bamboo does not require fertilizer, but you can feed it once every a couple of months with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced pellet fertilizer</strong></span></a> to promote growth.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pruning: Trim the leaves with a sharp pair of scissors to keep the plant looking neat and prevent overcrowding. Cut the stalks if they become too tall or if they start to yellow or brown.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Propagation: Lucky bamboo can be propagated by cutting a healthy stalk into sections and placing them in water or moist soil. Make sure each section has at least one node, which is a small bump where the leaves grow.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">By following these tips, you can ensure that your potted lucky bamboo stays healthy and beautiful.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">More About Monstera</h3>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/monstera/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">Monstera deliciosa</span></strong></a><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"> </span></strong>are part of the Aroid Family, one of the few aroids that produces edible fruit, though they rarely flower or produce edible fruit when grown indoors. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sunlight and Water</h3>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The evergreen plant thrives in bright to medium indirect light; preferably 3-6 hours of morning sun. Avoid intense and direct sun as it will scorch the healthy green foliage in no time.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water thoroughly and let drain completely every 1-2 weeks, always allow soil to dry out between waterings to avoid root rot. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light conditions. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h3>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Monstera Deliciosa prefers temperatures in the 18°C-30°C range. It’s best not to let it go below 15°C or over 32°C.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">This easy-to-grow plant will thrive in normal room humidity, but prefers humid conditions if possible. Having a humidifier in the room will boost the growth and greatly benefit the plant.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Soil and Fertilizer</h3>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Use a well-draining <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">aerated potting mix</span></strong></a>. Potting mix with ingredients such as <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/perlite/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>perlite</strong></span></a><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"> </span></strong>or <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/lava-rocks-small/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">lava rocks</span></strong></a> will increase soil aeration, which is recommended for this evergreen tropical plant.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Apply couple tablespoons of <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced pellet fertilizer</strong></span></a> every 2-3 months or whenever there&#8217;s new growth, always water thoroughly and let drain completely refer to as flushing the soil to avoid excess salt build-up.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Common Problems</h3>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">The Monstera is an easy-to-care plant and is generally pest-free. Treat pests as soon as they appear with biweekly sprays of a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/2294/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">natural pesticide</span></strong></a> and regularly wipe down the plant with damp cloth to give it a natural shine as well as allowing for effective photosynthesis.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Leaves turning brown and crispy at the edges<br>Cause: Thirsty plant, underwatered or high salt build up. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Water thoroughly to saturate all part of soil and let drain completely.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Wilting plant, dry potting mix<br>Cause: Underwatered or root-bound. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Keep up with watering while letting soil dry in between waterings, check underneath the pot for excessive roots, repot if root-bound.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Yellowing leaves or black stems, wet potting mix<br>Cause: Overwatered or soggy soil cause by soil unable to drain. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Adjust watering schedule, use well-drained soil while allowing soil to dry off in between water. Simply poke your finger couple inches into the soil to check for moisture, water again only when dry to the touch.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Note: Monsteras can be irritating to cats, dogs, and humans if foliage consumed. Consider keeping houseplants out of reach of small children and pets.</p>
