<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/lady-palm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color">Lady palm</span></strong></a> (Rhapis excelsa) is a striking and elegant houseplant native to Southeast Asia. It is known for its lush and green foliage, which is shaped like a fan. The plant has multiple thin stems that grow from a central point, and each stem is topped with a cluster of leaves. Lady palm can grow up to six feet tall, making it a great choice for larger rooms or as a statement piece in any indoor space.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="640" height="427" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-1-.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3242" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-1-.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-1--480x320.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">One of the best things about lady palm is that it is relatively low-maintenance. Lady palm is not only beautiful but also <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product-category/airpurifyingplants/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>beneficial for air quality</strong></span></a>, as it is known to filter out toxins such as benzene, formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide. Overall, lady palm is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a low-maintenance, elegant, and air-purifying houseplant that will thrive and provide you with beautiful foliage for years to come.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="800" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lady-palm-gallery.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-2663" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lady-palm-gallery.jpg 800w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lady-palm-gallery-480x480.jpg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 800px, 100vw" /><figcaption>Karaket Garden&#8217;s <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/lady-palm-large/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>Lady Palm</strong></span></a> in <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/cement-pot-mint-40x40cm/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>Cement pot (Mint)</strong></span></a></figcaption></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light and Water</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Light: Lady palms prefer 3-6 hours of bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low light conditions. Avoid exposing the plant to hot direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves. If the plant is not getting enough light, its leaves may turn yellow or brown.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water: Lady palms like to be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water your lady palm once a week, or when the top inch of soil feels dry. Use room temperature water to avoid shocking the plant, and avoid using hard water, which can cause mineral buildup in the soil. Always water deeply and let soil drain out completely to avoid soggy soil which is the main cause of root rot.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Temperature: Lady palms prefer a warm, consistent temperature between 16-27°C. Avoid exposing the plant to sudden temperature fluctuations or drafts, which can cause stress.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Humidity: Lady palms prefer high humidity levels, between 50-60%. If the air in your home is dry, you can increase the humidity around your lady palm by misting it with a spray bottle or placing a humidifier nearby.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="427" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-2-.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3243" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-2-.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-lady-palm-2--480x320.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upkeep</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fertilizer: You can feed your lady palm once every couple of months with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced pellet fertilizer</strong></span></a>. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can burn the roots.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pruning: Remove any yellow or brown leaves as soon as possible to prevent the spread of disease. You can also prune back any leggy or overgrown stems to encourage new growth. Use a sharp, clean pair of pruning shears to avoid damaging the plant.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Repotting: Lady palms prefer to be slightly root-bound, so you don&#8217;t need to repot them often. However, if you notice that the roots are growing out of the drainage holes or the plant is becoming too large for its pot, it&#8217;s time to repot. Choose a pot that is 2 inches larger than the current one, and use a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>well-draining potting mix</strong></span></a>. Water your lady palm thoroughly after repotting, and avoid fertilizing it for at least a month.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">With the right care, your lady palm will thrive and provide you with beautiful foliage year-round.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">If you&#8217;re looking for a stunning and easy-to-care-for <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/shop-plants/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>indoor plant</strong></span></a>, the <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/peace-lily/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>peace lily</strong></span></a> is an excellent choice! With its <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/floralife-leafshine-spray/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>glossy</strong></span></a>, dark green leaves and elegant white flowers, the peace lily is sure to add a touch of natural beauty to any room in your home or office.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">One of the best things about the peace lily is that it&#8217;s relatively low-maintenance. It thrives in bright, indirect light and can tolerate a range of humidity levels. Plus, it&#8217;s a great air purifier, which means it can help improve the air quality in your indoor space.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="986" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-1.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3235" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-1.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-1-480x740.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Another benefit of the peace lily is that it&#8217;s non-toxic to humans and pets, as long as it&#8217;s not ingested. This makes it a great choice for households with children and pets.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Overall, the peace lily is a fantastic indoor plant that is sure to delight and enhance any space. With its stunning foliage, elegant flowers, and air-purifying properties, the peace lily is a must-have for any indoor gardening enthusiast.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="853" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-2-.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3236" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-2-.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-2--480x640.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light and Water</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Light: Peace lilies prefer 3-6 hours of bright, indirect light, but they can also tolerate low light conditions. If you notice that your peace lily&#8217;s leaves are turning yellow or brown, it may be getting too much direct sunlight. Move it to a spot where it receives more shade.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Water: Peace lilies like to be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water your peace lily once-twice a week and adjust the frequency depending on the temperature, humidity, and light conditions. You can also check the moisture level of the soil by sticking your finger about an inch deep into the soil. If it feels dry, it&#8217;s time to water. Always water deeply and let soil drain out completely to avoid root rot.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Temperature: Peace lilies prefer a warm and consistent temperature, ideally between 18-27°C. They can tolerate temperatures outside of this range, but sudden changes in temperature or extended periods of extreme heat or cold can cause stress to the plant. In general, if you&#8217;re comfortable in a room, your peace lily should be comfortable as well.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Humidity: Peace lilies prefer high humidity levels, between 50% to 70%. If the air in your home is dry, you can increase the humidity around your peace lily by misting it with a spray bottle or placing a humidifier nearby. Alternatively, you can place your peace lily on a pebble tray filled with water.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="960" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-4-.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3238" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-4-.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/compressed-peace-lily-4--480x720.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Upkeep</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Fertilizer: You can feed your peace lily once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with couple tablespoons <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced pellet fertilizer</strong></span></a>.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Pruning: Remove any dead or yellow leaves as soon as possible to prevent the spread of disease. You can also prune back the entire plant by up to one-third of its size in the spring to encourage new growth. To prevent wilting, avoid cutting too many leaves at once.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Repotting: Peace lilies prefer to be slightly root-bound, so you don&#8217;t need to repot them often. However, if you notice that the roots are growing out of the drainage holes or the soil is not draining properly, it&#8217;s time to repot. Choose a pot that is approximately two inches larger than the current one, and use a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>well-draining potting mix</strong></span></a>. It has thick, glossy leaves that grow in a graceful, arching pattern and can reach up to three feet in length. Zanzibar Gem is an excellent choice for indoor houseplant as it is low-maintenance and can tolerate a wide range of growing conditions.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Zanzibar Gem is a moderate-growing plant that requires infrequent watering and can thrive in low light conditions. It can also tolerate low humidity and a wide range of temperatures, making it an ideal plant for homes and offices when paired with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/shop-plants/shop-pots-and-accessories/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>decorative pot</strong></span></a>. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Light and Water</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Zanzibar Gem prefers bright, indirect sunlight, but can also tolerate low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as overwatering can cause root rot. Water your Zanzibar Gem once every 2-3 weeks or when the soil is completely dry.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="640" height="853" src="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/compressed-zanzibar-gem-1-.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-3223" srcset="https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/compressed-zanzibar-gem-1-.jpeg 640w, https://karaketgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/compressed-zanzibar-gem-1--480x640.jpeg 480w" sizes="auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 640px, 100vw" /></figure></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Temperature and Humidity</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Zanzibar Gem can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but prefers temperatures between 15-26°C. It can also tolerate low humidity, but will appreciate occasional misting and humidifier.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Soil and Fertilizer</h2>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/aerated-potting-mix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>Aerated potting mix</strong></span></a> is recommended as soggy soil can cause root rot; preferably a mixture of perlite and coconut husks. Zanzibar Gem does not require frequent fertilization, but you can feed it once every 1-2 months with a <a href="https://karaketgarden.com/product/osmocote-fertilizer/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><span class="has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color"><strong>balanced pellet fertilizer</strong></span></a>.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Zanzibar Gem is a very hardy plant that is resistant to pests and diseases, and can even survive periods of neglect. With proper care, Zanzibar Gem can live for many years, making it a valuable addition to any indoor jungle.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Leaves turning brown and crispy at the edges<br>Cause: Thirsty plant, underwatered or high salt build up. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Water thoroughly to saturate all part of soil and let drain completely.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Wilting plant, dry potting mix<br>Cause: Underwatered or root-bound. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Keep up with watering while letting soil dry in between waterings, check underneath the pot for excessive roots, repot if root-bound.</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size">Symptom: Yellowing leaves or black stems, wet potting mix<br>Cause: Overwatered or soggy soil cause by soil unable to drain. </p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size"><em>Solution</em>: Adjust watering schedule, use well-drained soil while allowing soil to dry off in between water. Simply poke your finger couple inches into the soil to check for moisture, water again only when dry to the touch.</p>
